Open Call for Thematic Sessions V CLAM 2016

OPEN CALL FOR THEMATIC SESSIONS

Members of UMALCA and the mathematical community of Latin-America and the Caribbean are invited to submit proposals for thematic sessions. A thematic session will focus on a specific area of mathematics and will consist of eight lectures of 40 minutes each. The duration of the Thematic Session will be of maximum six hours distributed in four blocks of one hour and a half each.

Proposals must be submitted by, at least two persons working in different countries, and must contain a brief description of the area that will focus on, together with a list of possible lecturers, including experts in the area, preferably working in, at least, three different countries.

The scientific committee of the V CLAM will decide on the acceptance of the proposals, taking into account their scientific level and trying to reach a thematic balance and a broad geographical scope.

The Organizing Committee of the V CLAM, depending on the availability of funds, is planning to finance up to 24 nights of hotel for each thematic session. The distribution of these nights of hotel will be done taking into account the needs and the place of origin of each one of its participants.

We plan to have sessions on diverse areas including: Algebra, Algebraic Geometry and Commutative Algebra, Geometry and Topology, Functional Analysis, Harmonic and Real Analysis, Approximation Theory, Dynamical Systems and Ergodic Theory, Partial Differential Equations, Mathematical Physics, Probability, Statistics, Number Theory, Combinatory and Discrete Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, Optimization and Control Theory, Logic and Computability, Teaching of Mathematics and History of Mathematics.
