CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR A TENURE-TRACK POSITION DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICAL ENGINEERING UNIVERSITY OF CONCEPCION

Starting Date: August 1, 2018.

The Department of Mathematical Engineering at the University of Concepci ́on invites applications for one (1) assistant professor (tenure-track) position, starting on August 1, 2018. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree at the date of appointment, have a strong research potential, and should be able to work in teams. It is also expected a strong commitment to excellence in teaching.

Preference will be given to candidates whose research is related with (listed in order of preference):

1. Optimization and Calculus of Variations, Probability and Stochastic Processes.

2. Discrete Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, Partial Differential Equations.

3. Other branches of Applied Mathematics.
Teaching duties include courses at both undergraduate and graduate level.

At least, the annual salary will be around 24,500,000 CLP (approximately 40,500 USD), which does not include potential grants or research contracts. The Department of Math- ematical Engineering holds a PhD program on Applied Mathematics with around 25 stu- dents from different countries of Latin America, as well as the undergraduate career of Mathematical Engineering with more than 100 students.
