CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR A TENURE-TRACK POSITION DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICAL ENGINEERING UNIVERSITY OF CONCEPCION

Starting Date: January 1, 2017.

The Department of Mathematical Engineering at the University of Concepción invites applications for one (1) assistant professor (tenure-track) position, starting on January 1, 2017. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree at the date of appointment, have a strong research potential, and should be able to work in teams. It is also expected a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. We will give priority to those candidates whose research is related with Probability and Stochastic processes. We also encourage applications in Optimization and/or Calculus of Variations. Alternatively, we will evaluate candidates with an established research record in other branches of Applied Mathematics. Teaching duties include courses at both undergraduate and graduate level.

The annual salary will be around 24,900,000 CLP (approximately 37,700 USD), which does not include potential grants or research contracts. The Department of Mathematical Engineering holds a PhD program on Applied Mathematics with over 25 students from different countries of Latin America, as well as the undergraduate career of Mathematical Engineering with more than 100 students.
