The Panamanian Foundation for the Promotion of Mathematics (FUNDAPROMAT) and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) welcome you to join our Tenth Math Webinar in English, which will take place on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021 at 5 pm Panama time, 6 pm EDT. This Webinar is free and open to the general public, which means that kids and adults of all ages are welcome to attend. In this Tenth Math Webinar in English, our invited speaker, Dr. Suzanne L. Weekes, Executive Director of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), will be presenting on “What is Math Good For?” Mathematics and statistics play a part in our lives every day. Mathematics is crucial in weather prediction, computer animation, vaccine development, scheduling flights, data security, manufacturing, finance… In fact, it is hard to find places where math doesn’t play a role! Join us and hear a bit about data science, modelling, simulation, analysis, and algorithms. It should be noted that there will be no simultaneous translation into Spanish provided during this virtual event.
