The Panamanian Foundation for the Promotion of Mathematics (FUNDAPROMAT) and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) welcome you to join our Thirteenth Math Webinar in English, which will take place on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022 at 5 pm Panama time, 5 pm EST. This Webinar is free and open to the general public, which means that kids and adults of all ages are welcome to attend.
In this Thirteenth Math Webinar in English, our invited speaker Lauren Siegel, Director of the MathHappens Foundation, will be presenting on “A Visit to the MathHappens Workshop!” We will share some examples of the math models and activities we make in the MathHappens Foundation, where we find inspiration and how we connect these math models to our museums, libraries, and cultural and nature centers often through research into primary sources. We will make a puzzle or two as well, so please have some graph paper handy. We will also see the laser cutter in action and discuss materials and ways of making that which we have found successful. It should be noted that there will be no simultaneous translation into Spanish provided during this virtual event.
