Full-time tenure/tenure-track positions at Universidad de La Frontera
Applications are invited for two full-time positions at the assistant (tenure-track) or associate level, in Geometry, Algebra or Analysis in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics (DME) at Universidad de La Frontera. These are full-time, open-ended posts starting on March 1 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applicants for the posts should have a record of, or potential to produce, research that reaches the highest standards of excellence in terms of originality, significance and rigour in Mathematics. They should have the ability to deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; in particular, they are expected to actively participate in the Mathematics Doctoral Program. They will also be expected to take a full part in the life of the Department, including administrative duties.
Starting salary is about US$35,000 per year, before taxes, health insurance, and pension fund contribution, at the assistant professor level. Most funding projects existing in Chile also provide extra salary for academics.
Candidates must have a PhD in Mathematics.

Application Instructions
Candidates should submit the following documents, in English, by October 17th, 2022:
– A cover letter.
– Research statement (5-10 pages) indicating immediate and long term goals for your research and how these relate to the goals of DME. Include details on potential collaboration networks with other researchers and plans for interactions with scientists in Chile and other countries.
– Teaching statement (1-2 pages) indicating why you should be considered for the position and your plans for teaching. Be as specific as possible, by giving examples of how you aim to transfer your knowledge to undergraduate and graduate students, and which courses you could teach.
– An up-to-date curriculum vitae containing all relevant information.
In addition, candidates should arrange for at least two letters of recommendation.
