Twenty-Fifth Math Webinar in English

The Panamanian Foundation for the Promotion of Mathematics (FUNDAPROMAT), Mathigon and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) welcome you to join our Twenty-Fifth Math Webinar in English, which will take place on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023 at 5 pm Panama time, 6 pm EDT. This Webinar is free and open to the general public, which means that kids and adults of all ages are welcome to attend.

In this Math Webinar in English, our invited speaker David Poras, Senior Product Director for Mathigon, will be presenting on “Using Virtual Manipulatives for Math Exploration and Discovery“. Manipulatives can transform how students make meaning of important ideas by making abstract relationships visible, by teaching creativity and problem-solving, and by allowing students to explore and discover. In this webinar, you will learn how virtual manipulatives can mirror these effects and support more complex interactions that are not possible in the physical world. Participants will learn how to use Polypad, a free online resource for using virtual manipulatives. It should be noted that there will be no simultaneous translation into Spanish provided during this virtual event.

The instructions to access this Webinar will be sent by email the day before the event to all those who register. Please fill out the following form to register: https://tinyurl.com/math-english25.

The Panamanian Foundation for the Promotion of Mathematics (FUNDAPROMAT) seeks to change the world’s perception so that one and all can experience mathematics as accessible, relevant and inherently joyous.
